CITIZEN SCIENCE NETWORK

Bring citizen science to your municipality

An action-research network where citizens, university and local government investigate the territory's challenges together and turn them into real action.

WHO INVESTIGATES

Three protagonists, one shared challenge

In each municipality we open a node through a school. There, the Network's three protagonists come together to investigate a local challenge.

Citizens

Local residents and students investigate: they ask, explore and interpret.

University

The University of Vigo provides the method and supports the scientific process.

Local government

The town council drives the node and commits to the actions that arise from it.

HOW IT WORKS

From local challenge to action

Action research focused on real challenges: we generate situated knowledge and turn it into action for the territory.

01

Defining the local challenge

Together with the municipality, we choose a local challenge worth investigating.

02

Citizen research

Citizens ask questions, produce data and build the conclusions, with scientific support.

03

Sharing with the community

We share and enrich the results with the whole local community.

04

Defining real local action

We turn the knowledge into action and decisions for the territory.

OPEN SCIENCE

All the knowledge produced, open

We share the methodology, data and materials of every study so anyone can reuse and adapt them to their own area.

The Post-Growth Citizen Science Network is an initiative of TIASLab, at the Post-Growth Innovation Lab of the University of Vigo.
