We investigate together to transform the territory. In each municipality, citizens, university and government come together around a local challenge and turn shared research into real action.
What is the network?
The Post-Growth Citizen Science Network is an action-research network in which citizens, university and local government come together to investigate local challenges, generate knowledge and propose real action. It is a participatory research infrastructure that grows node by node, in and with the territory.
It was born from the conviction that the challenges of post-growth —the ecological transition, social justice, the transformation of production and consumption models— need to be addressed with and from citizens.

The symbol brings together the Network's three protagonists —citizens, university and government— around a shared challenge. As equals, they link in a continuous movement: asking, investigating and acting together. At its centre beats the local challenge that unites them.
What is citizen science?
It is research done with people, not just about people. Here, students take part in the design, collection and interpretation of the data, with scientific support. As well as solving specific challenges, we generate and share open knowledge about how to do citizen science better.
Our principles
Three commitments that guide every methodological decision and every project of the network.
Co-creation of knowledge
Participants are co-researchers who take part in the design, collection and interpretation of data.
Scientific rigour
Citizen participation is not at odds with scientific standards. We apply validated methodologies in every project.
Action-oriented
The knowledge we generate is geared towards producing real change. Each project culminates in concrete, transferable results.
How we work
- Participatory design: People and organisations take part from the outset in the design of each project.
- Rigorous methodology: We apply validated scientific protocols adapted to citizen participation.
- Practical orientation: Each project ends with concrete results that can be transferred to the local area.
- Continuous learning: We document and share what we learn so that other networks can replicate it.
